BID2WIN 2009 (SP1) and BUILD2WIN (v2.0) Released

BID2WIN 2009 (SP1) and BUILD2WIN 2.0 Released!BID2WIN Software Inc. is excited to announce the release of new versions of both its products—BID2WIN 2009 Service Pack 1 and BUILD2WIN Version 2.0.

“The release of BID2WIN 2009 (SP1) brings a new set of powerful tools to our users to allow them to improve performance, manage their estimates and highlight the parts of an estimate that matter to them quickly and easily” says BID2WIN product manager Patrick Reitz.

New features in BID2WIN 2009 (SP1) include the ability to flag entire cost categories—or the cost of specific items and tasks—as tax exempt; archive estimates; purge deleted data; copy conversion factors when updating equipment rate classes; and several new ways to customize and save user preferences within BID2WIN.

And BUILD2WIN (v2.0) includes highly anticipated features such as mobile field tracking, which will allow users to continue working even when their wireless connection does not.

“We are excited to deliver mobile field tracking, which will provide our clients greater flexibility when working in areas with little to no signal coverage” BUILD2WIN Product Manager Scott Johnson explains. “Clients will be able to enter field log information from any location, and the system will automatically synchronize the data behind the scenes when a connection is available—eliminating the frustration of poor signal coverage and increasing productivity.”

BID2WIN Software Announces Dispatching Solution at UC2010

BID2WIN Software Announces Dispatching Solution at UC2011Clients who attended BID2WIN Software’s annual User Conference last month were the first to witness an exclusive presentation by President Paul McKeon and Vice President Dave Todaro detailing the company’s plans for a dispatching product. Designed to integrate seamlessly with the company’s existing products, BID2WIN and BUILD2WIN, the new solution will allow clients to manage the movement and availability of equipment and employees for all job sites.

“I think the introduction of the dispatching product will be a great thing for BID2WIN Software and their clients. It will fill a void that many companies face,” said Randy Twehous, Vice President of Twehous Excavating Company, Inc. in Jefferson City, Missouri.

User Conference 2010, which took place February 08-11 in Boca Raton, Florida, also featured several types of educational training, including FAQ round table and top ten style sessions, as well as hands-on, instructor-led labs. As always, attendees enjoyed the opportunity to receive one-on-one assistance from BID2WIN Software support and training personnel in the Software Solutions Center, which housed over 100 PC workstations and hands-on lab exercises for both BID2WIN and BUILD2WIN.

“The conference was excellent,” said Terrence Pasemko, Estimator and Project Manager at Waiward Construction Management, Inc. in Edmonton, Alberta. “I did not realize how user-based the software is! I was quite surprised that in the middle of a session, when someone would suggest something, it was asked if people agree and notes would be taken for changes in the program. I could not believe that a software company listens to its users to that extent,” he explained.

The BID2WIN Software team received a great deal of valuable user feedback, which will be immediately researched and considered for enhancements to both products in the upcoming year. Plus, the User Conference team will use attendee and client feedback to begin planning the next event, the dates and location of which will be announced this summer.

BID2WIN Continues to Improve Profitability for Gerber Construction

When Mark Nielsen joined Gerber Construction as an estimator and project manager six years ago, he was pleased to find BID2WIN Software’s standardized solution, BID2WIN Estimating & Bidding, already in place at the Utah-based sitework and utility company.

BID2WIN Continues to Improve Profitability for Gerber ConstructionJoining a team of six estimators, Nielsen was able to produce bids quickly and easily using BID2WIN’s centralized resources and reusable task and item templates. However, Gerber Construction’s estimating and bidding process was not always quite as streamlined.

Ten years ago, the company was looking for a solution that would improve profitability through more efficient and accurate estimating and bidding. After evaluating Timberline, Gerber Construction thought they had made a decision, but decided to give BID2WIN a shot. They soon learned that BID2WIN is optimized for multiple users, allowing any number of estimators to work on the same estimate at the same time with no performance degradation—a major benefit for a company with over 100 employees. Plus, BID2WIN includes a comprehensive security system to control access to each area of the product, as well as limit the amount of information each user can see.

Gerber Construction purchased BID2WIN in 2000, and a decade later, the company continues to stand behind its decision. Nielsen says that getting bids put together quickly is the biggest advantage that the company has experienced with BID2WIN. “It has definitely improved our profitability,” he explains.
